Rustic Romance in Wilmington

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

Megan & Taylor met over a hot July 4th weekend on Wrightsville Beach, NC. Megan was a nursing student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Taylor had just landed his first job after graduating from NC State. So when deciding their wedding location it only seemed perfect to tie the knot in the city they fell in love. Wilmington, NC offers some of the best and most attractive venues I've seen. Megan was looking for something that was intimate and beautiful. She wanted a space that was inherently gorgeous that she could add small accents and her own personalized flair to. After a long day of scouting out venues and taking 1,000 pictures we walked into 128 South and I dare say our search was over! With a guest list around 120 attending, 128 South offered an intimate setting that would house the ceremony and reception. They also offered catering, bar services, tables/chairs, and a day-of coordinator. Add in the tall ceilings, exposed beams, brick walls, and stain glass windows and we were pulling out the check book! It was honestly the entire package.

All brides know what it is like to be on a budget! A smart move that Megan made was asking her friends and family for help. Her father-in-law is super handy and was able to make her wedding arch and wooden box centerpieces. After a couple of coats of stain, all it took was a staple gun and some fabric purchased at a craft store to create a romantic feel for the arch! We took a shopping trip to Ikea to pick up the super affordable decorative lanterns (who doesn't love a Ikea trip?!). Megan created her own programs from crafts and card stock picked up at Hobby Lobby and her sister (me!) did all the calligraphy for her chalkboards. Megan chose mint accents with blush florals that really added a fresh feeling to this rustic space. Once the band started playing I don't think anyone left the dance floor! It was a magical night with a sparkler send off for the bride and groom! Thanks to Theo Milo for the wonderful photography!
